3rd September 2020Charlotte was recently invited down to meet with members of The Mersey Forest team at Risley Moss Local Nature Reserve. The Moss is a Special Site of Scientific Interest and is home to as many as 60 different species of breeding birds.
During the visit Charlotte heard about the work of the Mersey Forest Partnership over the past 25 years and about their exciting plans for the future.
The Mersey Forest is a growing network of woodlands and green spaces across Cheshire and Merseyside, which has been creating ‘woodlands on your doorstep’ for 25 years.
It is a partnership between local authorities, schools, community groups and others has seen 9 million trees planted across North Cheshire and Merseyside, creating a growing network of woodlands and green spaces.
This has a whole host of benefits from spaces to keep fit and healthy, to supporting biodiversity and making our local area a more attractive place to live, work and study which benefits our local economy.
Charlotte said:
“I’m looking forward to working with The Mersey Forest, and collaborating with local partners in education and on healthcare (particularly around mental health and social-prescribing), to ensure everyone locally can benefit from the amazing work they do!”
