3rd September 2020Charlotte meets Laura from Graze Cheshire Ltd for a natter over a cheeseboard
3rd September 2020To mark this year’s International Youth Day, Charlotte Nichols MP paid a visit to two local summer programmes being run by Warrington Youth Club.
Charlotte’s first visit of the day was to the Aspire Holiday Club – an exciting programme for children with disabilities and additional needs, which is running this summer, delivered by Warrington Youth Club in partnership with Warrington Borough Council and Warrington Play and Sensory. The programme is running at Green Lane and Fox Wood Schools in Woolston and provides quality and fun activities for children aged 7-19, with all abilities accommodated.
Charlotte was then invited to meet some of the young people taking part in this year’s National Citizen Service (NCS) who are volunteering at Elle for Elle, a charity which helps victims of Domestic Abuse providing them with body care and essential products to give them Dignity after Distress.
NCS is open to all 16 and 17-year-olds in England – helping young people to build skills for work and life, while taking on new challenges. It encourages personal and social development by working on skills like leadership, teamwork and communication.
Warrington Youth Club has worked with the NCS since 2012 delivering the life-changing experiences for young people in the Warrington area.
Charlotte said:
“It was lovely to speak with some the children and to see how much they were getting out of all the different activities they were taking part in.
“Too often we see our young people and teenagers in particular getting a bad rap, but it was really inspiring to see how passionate they were about helping out in the community and to hear their plans for the future.
“As MP, I’ll do all I can to support services for young people across our whole community- from education and wellbeing, to opportunities for employment experience and volunteering- to give all our young people the very best start in life that they deserve!”
