31st January 2024Charlotte volunteers with Litter Networks Hub
Good to pitch in with one of the newest teams in the Litter Networks Hub – Warrington in Birchwood yesterday afternoon with Kuldeep from the Sikh Temple Group, Tim and local residents.
The volunteers, who go out week in, week out, in all weathers, are local heroes- the total across the Litter Network for 2024 so far is 390 bags! Yesterday we focused on the area around Locking Stumps and picked a lot of litter and debris that had clearly been thrown from cars, as well as finding some more troubling items in the woods including a nitrous cylinder that I’m glad can no longer pose a risk to children or wildlife.
Litter is one of the things I’m very regularly contacted about, especially by children as glass and other hazardous waste stops them from being able to fully enjoy our parks and play areas, as well as being a blight on the area at large.
If you’d like to take part, please get in touch with the group, or I have plenty of equipment (including hi vis jackets, hoops, gloves and pickers) available to borrow from my constituency office if you are looking to organise a session of your own with family, friends or a local community group. Drop me an email to [email protected] if you’d like to lend them!
