Visit to Warrington Rowing Club

Warrington Youth Rowing is an initiative designed to introduce a wide range of young people in Warrington to the sport of rowing. Working with a number of schools across the town, they aim to open up the sport of rowing and shed its elitist image.

Their vision is to help to bring out the best in the young people on the programme, helping them develop a whole range of skills which will serve them in their future, as well as improving self-esteem, self-confidence, resilience, and life skills.

I was invited to visit the Club where I met Warrington Youth Rowing Trustees Richard Sinnott and Ben Dunne.

Along with hearing all about the Warrington Youth Rowing initiative, I was also given an update on the Rowing Club’s ongoing work, including their planned new facilities.

I really enjoyed my visit. The work they are doing with schools from right across Warrington to teach young people rowing and associated skills like teamwork is inspirational. I'm proud to support them.

During my visit, students from King’s Leadership Academy were enjoying their first lesson. Even in just one session you could see their confidence on the water really growing.

We're so lucky to have so many excellent athletes and clubs locally across a range of sports, and I want to make sure they're all as accessible as possible as well as having the resources they need to thrive and continue putting Warrington on the map nationally and internationally!
