Visit to local family support charity, Home-Start Warrington

I recently joined the Home-Start Warrington team at their office at the Old School to hear all about the crucial support the charity has been providing to local parents and families throughout the pandemic.

Home-Start Warrington is a local community network of trained volunteers and expert support, which helps families with young children through challenging times that include postnatal depression, isolation, physical health problems and bereavement.

The charity’s volunteers tailor-make their support to the needs of the parents and children – working alongside them to help them cope with the stresses and strains of life.

Throughout the pandemic, the Home-Start Warrington team has continued to work with local parents and families – providing support to parents who had a baby in lockdown, parents who may be suffering from poor mental health and families living in poverty.

For families already in difficulties, the pandemic has made life harder than ever. Mental health issues, anxiety and money worries have all been heightened along with social isolation. The Home-Start Warrington team have been a lifeline to many, working incredibly hard to provide much-needed support to those families and parents who need it.

It was great to catch up with the team and to hear all about their future plans – including a new singing group for mums to help with mental wellbeing and loneliness.

Home-Start Warrington are currently looking for volunteers in a range of roles including: minibus drivers, playgroup assistants and forest playgroup assistants. To find out more call 01925 652320 or email [email protected]
