Charlotte visited a company in Birchwood called Flamefast. Through manufacturing CO2 monitors, Flamefast are working to reduce COVID transmission in classrooms throughout the UK.

Fresh air plays a significant role in keeping the virus at bay indoors, and poor air quality can be highlighted with the use of a CO2 monitor.

Following the visit, Charlotte wrote to the Department for Education to ensure schools are funded for roll-out of C02 monitors to support manufacturers like Flamefast to keep students & staff safe.

Charlotte said:

‘Anything we can do mitigate against the threat of COVID transmission in classrooms is a very good thing. Where a classroom is poorly ventilated children are at risk. ’

‘It was good to also talk through the company's plans for expanding the number of high quality local engineering and manufacturing jobs in Warrington, and how I can work with them on both the skills agenda and meeting the challenges posed by decarbonisation to achieve this!’
