Charlotte visited the over-60s class at Phoenix Fire Boxing Club today, based at Warrington Fire Station.

Charlotte said:

"It was inspiring to hear about how they adapted to lockdown, with 70 daily classes taking place over Skype.

Having been reopened in recent weeks, I witnessed their safety measures in action from temperature checks, sanitisation, social distancing with clear floor markings and checking in with details for track and trace. With no evidence that leisure facilities have been a vector of spread locally, I'm confident that the exemption for gyms from closure is the right decision. I will be pushing to ensure that indoor classes are within the exemptions.

As we move into Tier 3, it's important that responsible clubs like this with Covid-secure measures in place can still train for the mental and physical health benefits their classes provide.
