I really enjoyed visiting Hinkley Point C nuclear power station and seeing how the work done in Warrington fits into the project, and getting a much better sense of the enormous scale and complexity involved.

This power station alone will generate 7% of the UK's electricity when it's up and running, has lower lifetime greenhouse gas emissions than offshore wind, and creates tens of thousands of skilled, unionised jobs too.

I also got to visit the National College for Nuclear, to see the way different qualifications that offer routes into the sector, and into specific skilled construction trades like welding and steel fixing, are being developed including accreditation for apprenticeships up to degree level.
