3rd September 2020Charlotte meets the Birchwood Shopping Centre team to discuss Covid challenges
3rd September 2020Kenyon Hall Farm is home to a farm shop, cafe, plant centre and fruit picking. It has been farmed
by the same family since before 1500, with Tod and Barbara Bulmer the current farmers.
As well as serving as the Member of Parliament for Warrington North, Charlotte is a member of Labour’s Shadow International Trade Team, where she is responsible for scrutinising the Trade Bill as it goes through Parliament so that it ensures high standards for local farmers.
Charlotte said:
“I really enjoyed my visit to Kenyon Hall Farm, and what a beautiful day for it too!
It was fascinating hearing from Tod about the history of the farm and how they have diversified over the years, as well as discussing the support agricultural producers need and the specific challenges they’ve had to adapt to as a result of Covid as a business.
“We are absolutely blessed in Cheshire to have agricultural produce that is globally recognised for its quality, including from Kenyon Hall Farm- I have never tasted a strawberry as delicious as the ones I picked myself today!
“This is why it’s vital that through the Trade Bill, as well as in any future Free Trade Agreements, we ensure that Cheshire farmers are not undercut by cheap imports from overseas or allowing in produce that doesn’t meet the high standards we demand of our farmers here. Working with the Shadow International Trade team, I’ll hold the Government to account on exactly that!”
