Charlotte presents Warrington North Special Recognition Award

It was a privilege to spend some time with my constituent Anne Wainwright and her family in Locking Stumps this morning, and to present her with a Warrington North Special Recognition Award following her retirement after 53 years of service to Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

Anne began her nursing career at Warrington Hospital in 1970, specialising as a Children’s Cystic Fibrosis and Asthma Nurse. She has helped countless families in that time, and the way she spoke about her patients and the advances in treatment over her career was very emotional for all of us- you truly couldn’t wish for someone with greater love, care and commitment if your child was ill.

Alongside Anne’s work, she has fundraised tens of thousands of pounds to help secure those advances in research and treatment, fighting the corner for children with cystic fibrosis and their families to give them the very best care and quality of life, and helped to push for policy changes on screening and early diagnosis.
